Baby Diaper Changing Tips

by admin on October 1, 2008

Your baby will need to be changed around 12 to 14 times in one 24 hour period, so by the time your baby outgrows diapers, you’ll be a diaper changing pro! Here are a few tips to help you get started.

1. Take care when changing your baby boy that there’s nothing around him you don’t want to get wet. When you lift him to wipe or set the diaper down, he may decide to pee.

2. Sometimes when a baby poops, they do not finish right away. It’s generally a good idea to make sure your baby in completely finished before you pull off the diaper, otherwise you could wind up with a huge mess on your hands.
3. Because you’ll be changing your babies’ diaper so often, the times between changing seem to run together and you may forget when the last time you changed your babies’ diaper. This is mostly due to lack of sleep, but you should always check your babies’ diaper often, just to be sure.

4. Remember when changing your baby, not to change them on anything you wouldn’t want to get dirty. If you absolutely must, place a soft cloth down to keep your items safe when changing the diaper.

5. If you’ve got to run some where, even if it’s only momentarily, you should always take extra diapers with you. You don’t want to be caught with a fussy baby due to a full diaper, and no diaper to change him or her into.

6. Keep everything you don’t want knocked over or potentially smeared all over your baby away from baby while changing. Their feet kick around and can knock diaper cream and other items off the changing table.

7. You should always keep two wet wash cloths for your changing station. If you don’t need the second, you can always hang it over something and let it dry out. However, if you do need it, you’ll be very glad you have it.
