General Review

Recent baby monitors have features like 2-way talk functions, video, analytics, and beautiful product design. While you don’t get this with VTech DM111, you get reliability in their audio quality and the signal strength is strong enough to cover enough range.

This is quite simply the baby monitor that fulfills the needs of parents who want a simple audio solution.

Audio Quality

VTech DM111 has excellent audio quality. It uses a DECR 6.0 signal to provide clear audio without interference or white noises in the background. The parent unit has 5 alert lights to notify you when your baby is crying. This is as straightforward as it gets for baby monitoring.

Ease of use

Simply plug in the power of the baby unit. For the parent unit, you have to buy 2 AAA Alkaline batteries and insert them. That’s it, you have everything you need to get VTech DM111 working. You can buy additional parent units if you need more.

VTech DM111 has a clip that allows you to easily attach it to your belt if you want a hands free way of carrying your baby monitor around in the house. It has a beeping notification to alert you if you are straying out of range or if your batteries are running low.

VTech DM111 uses an encrypted FHSS frequency. The risk of being hacked is pretty low as hackers have to be in the proximity and then they have to crack the encryption before they get to your signal.

VTech DM111 baby monitor transmits audio data to the parent unit through a wireless 1.9GHz DECT 6.0 connection. There will be EMF being emitted from the device. If you are concerned about the safety of your baby, you can read more on our article on baby monitor’s radiation.

For safety reasons, do place the baby monitor 6 feet away from your baby’s crib.

The Verdict

If you are looking for a simple audio baby monitor without all the bells and whistles, VTech DM111 is the right one for you. At less than $20, this is as good as it gets for a purely audio baby monitor. It is valued for money for what it promises to do.
